The team at Cosmetic Dental FX has advanced post graduate training at the following institutes: LVI (Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies), Invisalign, and Lumineers. We also have a board certified anesthesiologist and oral surgeon on staff for your convenience.

Dr. Judy Yu

Dr. Judy Yu is an artist with a passion for perfecting smiles, in turn boosting one's confidence. She is a true advocate of education. Dr. Yu is always striving to educate herself and her staff in our ever-changing field.

Dr. Yu attended the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received her D.M.D and was recently honored in the Temple University Gallery of Success. Her undergraduate degree, a B.A. in Chemistry, was attained at Goucher College, in Towson, Maryland where she was a Dean's Scholar. She recently completed her MBA at Loyola University.

Dr. Yu is currently a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA), the Academy of General Dentists (AGD), the Maryland Academy of General Dentists and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT). She served as the Public Information Officer on the board of the Maryland Academy of General Dentists (MAGD). Dr. Yu is certified in Forensic Dentistry through the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology at Walter Reed Medical Center and has served on the Maryland State Committee for Oral Cancer Awareness.

Dr. Yu is committed to the overall health of her patients. She works with her team to educate patients about the importance of oral care and how the pathology in the oral cavity is directly linked to ones general health, including periodontal disease and its relationship with heart disease.

A humanitarian at heart, Dr. Yu co-founded Junior Fellowship of Christian Athletes, JFCA. She also sits on the board of The Children's Cancer Foundation and is a contributor to Carson's Scholars Foundation. She truly enjoys giving back to the community and has recently donated a half million dollars of in-kind dental services to children in need of care in Baltimore. This kind gift is part of a larger project, "What Makes us Smile". There is will a year long "What Makes us Smile" exhibit opening this fall at the the American Visionary Arts Museum, AVAM.

Dawn Welsh, COO
Director of Practice Operations

Dawn Welsh has been with Cosmetic Dental FX since its conception seven years ago. She is the office manager as well as the financial and insurance wizard. She uses her certification in accounting to assist patients in understanding the financial aspect of their treatment. She can help maximize insurance benefits to obtain optimal dental health. She is able to put the most financially tense patient at ease by preparing a financial plan that will fit their budget.

You may also see Dawn performing simple tasks in the back as well. She has been certified in oral radiography since 7/2002 and is a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute (LVI) of Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry and Invislign; she may be helping Dr. Yu and the rest of her team and educate you on your dental treatment.

Her years of running and maintaining a business have easily transformed her into a dental office manager. Her warm and friendly personality in patient relationship will keep you coming back.

Danielle Praley, RDH
Hygiene Coordinator

Danielle Praley has been in the dental field for 16 years and with Cosmetic Dental FX since September 2005. Her career first started in an orthodontic practice as an orthodontic assistant. It was then that she learned how much she enjoyed working with people one-on-one and how rewarding it was to see a patient's smile take shape. In 2000, she went to work for a general / orthodontic practice in Annapolis, MD, where she was trained to be a dental assistant, and eventually became part of their management team as the clinical coordinator.

Danielle began her education for dental hygiene in the fall of 2000 at Baltimore City Community College. She graduated in May, 2005 with honors and as SADHA class president. Her certifications include orthodontic assisting, radiology, and expanded function dental assisting.

She feels very happy to be a part of an amazing dental practice and to be a part of the team that has become a second family. She enjoys working at such a patient-oriented practice that has given her the chance to both practice dental hygiene and to be a part of a state-of-the-art practice. Through her time with the practice, she has learned to be multifunctional and can help in any area of the practice, from front desk to dental assisting.

Through recent education she is certified in Invisalign and Lumineers. Her goal is to make patients aware of their dental needs and encourage their participation in treatment decisions.

Glenna Pinachio
Patient Benefits / Investment Coordinator

Glenna Pinachio has been working in dentistry for over 20 years. She joined the Cosmetic Dental FX team in August, 2005. She began her dental career as a chairside assistant, then moved into patient relations, and is now our insurance expert. She works with insurance companies on behalf of our patients, submitting claims and confirming benefits.

Glenna enjoys the continuing education that is offered at Cosmetic Dental FX and the many new people she meets. She states, "I really enjoy working with Dr. Yu. I have worked for several dentists in California and Ohio, and now Maryland (I love Maryland! It is so green here!). It is a pleasure to work for such a caring and dedicated professional. I admire all the knowledge and expertise of dentistry Dr. Yu has. I am happy to be a part of the Cosmetic Dental FX team.
